Unique breast cancer charity reveals its 2012 retreat scheduleFriday, 3 February 2012 Casting for Recovery UK & Ireland, the unique outdoor programme specifically designed for women who have, or have had, breast cancer, has announced its 2012 retreat schedule and applications are now being accepted. The team will be visiting England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales and the Republic of Ireland in 2012, giving as many ladies as possible the chance to experience the programme’s specific brand of magic. Read moreSomerset fishery raises vital funds for charityFriday, 19 August 2011 A ladies’ day at Jacklands Fishing Lakes at Tickenham, Nr Nailsea in North Somerset raised hundreds of pounds for Casting for Recovery UK & Ireland, the fly fishing programme for ladies with breast cancer. Jacklands owner Caroline Eastwood organised the July event which saw ladies of all ages paired with a fishing guide for some casting practice and a short competition. Defra has also published on its web site the terms of reference, scope and timeframes for “an evidence-led review of Defra’s current policy in relation to controlling the impact of predation on inland fisheries and fish farms from fish-eating birds, and, specifically, in relation to the threat of serious damage caused by cormorants, goosanders and red-breasted mergansers.
