10th and 11th May - The 2014 Whitfield Annual Clay Shoot. The cost per team of 4 will remain at £320. This is an exceptional event which offers challenging "high birds in May" clay shooting. There will also be a number of trade stands at the event (see below) offering visitors a chance to support local Northumbrian businesses. St George’s Day celebrations herald Great British Beef Week 2014 - April 23 – May 3. Ladies in Beef are urging the British beef industry to get behind Great British Beef Week 2014 and capitalise on shopper preference for home produced Red Tractor Assured British beef to further increase market share in retail stores across the UK. The proportion of British beef in supermarkets and other retail outlets rose from 81% in 2012 to 83% in 2013, with 86% of shoppers confirming their preference for fully traceable food from British farms (EBLEX, NFU & BRC data).

More people are coming hunting than ever before and, while we continue to fight against the senseless and unworkable ban, we think it’s time to celebrate our wonderful sport. And how better to do that than with a party? The Horn & Hound Ball will take place on Saturday, 26 April 2014 at Cheltenham Racecourse, Gloucestershire, in aid of the Hunt Staff Benefit Society.

Wednesday 7th – Sunday 11th May, Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials As from 2014 the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials will revert to its Thursday to Sunday schedule and move to the weekend after the May Bank Holiday.
Please come and meet the Countryside Alliance team at the Horse Trials, we will be happy to update you on our ongoing work and give you some of our new hunting literature.

Thursday 15th May - United Hunts Meeting – Fontwell Park Racecourse.  The Hunter Chase evening returns to Fontwell Park Racecourse! The Weatherbys United Hunts Meeting is a race evening designed for point-to-point horses and amateur jockeys, so come and support your local point to point winners.

18th May - Old Berks Countryside Day, The Kennels, Faringdon

The Old Berks Countryside Day is on May 18th 10am to 5pm, at The Kennels, Stanford Road, Faringdon SN7 8ES. A traditional Country Fair celebrating all aspects of countryside life. Including Clay Pigeon shooting have a go and competitions, dog agility and fun dog show, a Donkey Derby, children’s activity tent, a showcase of country skills such as thatching, farriers, hurdle making and bee keeping. There is a Farmer's Market with lots of local produce and country craft stands. Demonstrations will also occur in the show ring ranging from the Pony Club, shire horses and falconry to gundogs, beagles, terrier racing and more. Refreshments are available including a hog roast, barbeque food, teas and homemade cakes. 20th May - Barney White-Spunner to deliver SSAFA Lecture in Buckingham

20th May 2014 - Countryside Alliance Executive Chairman Lt Gen Sir Barney White-Spunner KCB CBE will deliver this year's lecture for Forces Charity SSAFA. The lecture will take place at the University of Buckingham at 6.30pm on Tuesday 20th May. Barney will talk about the aims of the Countryside Alliance and its future plans and he will also describe his military career, where he held a number of critical operational command appointments in the Balkans, Iraq and Afghanistan, ending up as commander of the Field Army.
