The Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust will run the second annual Big Farmland Bird Count between 7th and 15th February 2015. The count is held to highlight the good work done by farmers and gamekeepers in helping to reverse the decline in farmland bird numbers. We want to help them record the effect of any conservation work on their land and we are asking people to spend 30 minutes recording the species and number of birds seen on one particular area of the farm. Despite it being the wettest winter since records began in 1910 more than 500 farmers, managing nearly half-million acres of UK farmland, took part in the inaugural count in 2014.
