Hot off the Press! Alliance Golf Challenge - 26th of September

Rudding Park near Harrogate is the venue and the 26th of September is the date for the first ever Countryside Alliance Golf Challenge. The award winning Rudding Park hotel is a privately owned luxury hotel, spa and golf course set in 300 acres of beautiful parkland.
 
Teams of 4 will compete for the privilege of winning this inaugural challenge competition on the Championship 18 hole, par 72 Hawtree course which runs through beautiful 18th century parkland.
Included in the price of £400 per team of 4 are ‘tee off’ refreshments, drinks at the 19th hole and a 3 - course dinner in the Radcliffe room in the splendid surroundings of the Rudding Park hotel.

This will be a terrific opportunity to hear from our Kate Hoey on her vision for the Countryside Alliance and rural sports in general and enjoy a fine 3 - course dinner with coffee, port and a sporting auction.

Northern Race for Repeal - 27th November - Head to Head Craggs v Burnell!

This year's Race for Repeal will feature the winners of the last 2 races! Wayne Burnell who won at Doncaster in 2011 and Peter Craggs who was joint first with Will Milburn in the 2012 race at Wetherby, so it should be an exciting day at the races. Shooting Club for Ladies and the Alliance in the North

I am pleased to announce that in the northern region we have formed an alliance with The Shotgun & Chelsea Bun Club. The owner Victoria Knowles Lacks in working with me to promote our shooting campaign National Shooting Week which runs from the 25th of May until the 2nd of June.

I will be working with Victoria to help promote and publicise the fantastic work she is doing to encourage more women into shooting and to run joint events such as "An introduction to game shooting, for girls which will cover traditions of shooting, quarry identification, different guns/shells, etiquette, safety and shooting driven clays"

I'm delighted that we have just launched our newest publication "A Guide to Improving Habitat for Wildfowl". The inspiration for this guide was the Chairman of the Walney Island Widlfowlers, Steve Thompson and so very many thanks to Steve for his foresight and vision. The guide features examples and case studies drawn from the shooting community over the last decade which highlight the vital, but often largely unseen, contribution that shooting plays in maintaining and enhancing wetland habitats.

Regional Police and Crime Commissioners update

Since they were elected in November 2013, I have been working hard to meet each of the Police and Crime Commissioners in the North of England. There are 13 PCC’s in the region and so far I met with the PCC’s for Cheshire, Durham and CEO for the PCC in Lancashire with meetings planned with Derbyshire, West Yorkshire and Cumbria.
The purpose of these meetings is to ensure that the PCC’s are aware of the role of the Countryside Alliance and that within their regional crime strategies the following 4 key areas are addressed

Lancaster University launch Countryside Society

On Saturday 19th January 2013, Lancaster University Countryside Society was joined by local farmers, rural organisations, students and members of rural communities for their launch event at The Borough in Lancaster. The Borough was kind enough to have sponsored and help plan the event which was a huge success and bought together a wide array of people.

18th May - Derbyshire Charity Clay Shoot at Chatsworth

The Earl and Countess of Burlington are hosting the Derbyshire Charity Clay Shoot at Chatsworth – the second time the event has visited the Derbyshire estate.  40 teams of shooting  enthusiasts will be participating, testing their ability on 6 simulated game drives.
Headline sponsor, Beretta, will be launching its new range of side by side shotguns on the day, a notable coup.  To follow the sporting activity there will be an old fashioned lunch and  charity auction, raising money for the Countryside Alliance’s Campaign for Shooting and for 4 local charities – Cavendish Cancer Care, Helen’s Trust, Neurocare and The Devonshire Education Trust.
