Hunting Newcomers’ Week – 21-28 October 2017

The ever popular Hunting Newcomers’ Week returns in 2017 and will take place from 21-28 October.

The aim of the week is to introduce as many new faces to the hunting field as possible with the added incentive this year of a competition that encourages those who have enjoyed their day out with hounds to write about their encounter.

No special clothes or kit are required to be able to take part, however those thinking of trying hunting for the first time are encouraged to read the Countryside Alliance’s Newcomers’ Guide To Hunting.

This year, we are incredibly grateful to both Champagne Pol Roger and The Old Hunting Habit for supporting our Newcomers’ Week competition, in which we ask you to share your stories about the reasons you decided to try hunting for the first time and what that experience meant for you.

Please send your entries – which should be no more than 400 words – to [email protected] or by post for the attention of Polly Portwin at the CA offices, Spring Mews, Tinworth Street, Vauxhall, London, SE11 5AN. The closing date for entries is Sunday, 5th November.

Prizes are being awarded in six different regions with Champagne Pol Roger generously offering a bottle of champagne to the writer of the winning article in each region, plus they will receive a personalised hunting stock donated by The Old Hunting Habit. In addition, a bottle of Pol Roger will go to the huntsman of the pack they visited.

Hunts are invited to send us details of any newcomers’ meets or events being planned so we can advertise them along with details of others being held around the country. A list will be available below, so please keep an eye on this page for more details in the lead up to the week.
