At the National Trust AGM on 21st October 2017 there will be a vote on a members’ resolution which proposes to ban trail-hunting on NT land. We are urging all members to vote AGAINST this resolution. Please find below details of how to vote – either in person at the AGM, or by proxy either online or by post.

Option 1: Voting online

Please note that your vote will only count if submitted by 23:59 on 13th October 2017.

1. Follow this link to the National Trust’s voting page – www.ersvotes.com/nt17

2. If you wish, you can watch the video about how to vote online.

3. When you are ready to vote, click the LOG IN button and then enter your first name, surname, National Trust membership number and your postcode. Then click NEXT PAGE.

4. Click on the VOTE button next to the AGM RESOLUTIONS.

5. If you are unable to attend the AGM, please go to step 7 below to appoint your proxy.

6. If you wish to attend the AGM to vote in person, please TICK THE BOX shown in the screen grab below, then click the NEXT PAGE button and finally SUBMIT. You will now have registered to attend and do not need to complete steps 7-10. 

7. To appoint your proxy, you can either:

7a. Tick the box next to THE CHAIR OF THE MEETING

OR

7b. Tick the box next to THE PERSON NAMED BELOW and enter the name of the person who will be attending the AGM and voting on your behalf.

The Alliance’s representative will be POLLY PORTWIN.

If you wish Polly to vote on your behalf, please enter her name in the box and then send an email including your name and membership number to [email protected] to confirm that you have appointed Polly as your proxy. Please note, if your proxy is unable to attend for any reason then your vote will not be counted.

8. In the ORDINARY RESOLUTIONS section, please instruct your proxy to vote AGAINST option number 4 which is the members’ resolution for a cessation of trail hunting, exempt hunting and hound exercise. Voting AGAINST the resolution means that you wish trail-hunting to continue on National Trust land.

9. Click the NEXT PAGE button.

10. Review your choices, then click on the SUBMIT button.

Option 2: Postal vote (either voting in person or to elect a proxy)

Please note that any forms received after 13th October will not be accepted so do not delay and ensure that your vote to save trail hunting counts. Using the forms received in the post, please follow these steps:

1. Fill in your personal details including your name, surname, National Trust membership number, postcode and signature.

2. Go to Section 3 VOTE IN THE RESOLUTIONS.

3. If you are unable to attend the AGM, please go to step 4 below to appoint your proxy.

3. If you are attending the AGM to vote in person, TICK THE BOX and return your form to Freepost ERS before 13th October. You will now have registered to attend and do not need to complete steps 4-6. 

4. To appoint your proxy, you can either:

4a. Tick the box next to THE CHAIR OF THE MEETING.

OR

4b. Tick the box next to THE PERSON NAMED BELOW and enter the name of the person who will be attending the AGM and voting on your behalf.

6. Send your completed voting form in the post to Freepost ERS.

Option 3: Vote in person at the AGM

The vote on the members’ resolution to ban trail-hunting, exempt hunting and hound exercise will take place at the AGM which starts at 10.30am on 21st October at STEAM, The Museum of the Great Western Railway, Fire Fly Avenue, Swindon, SN2 2EY.

If you are planning to attend the AGM to vote in person, you must still pre-register before 23:59 on 13th October.

Please note that you will need to produce your National Trust membership at the AGM in order to vote in person. If you have mislaid your card, please visit www.nationaltrust.org.uk or contact the National Trust by calling 0344 800 1895 to request a new card which can take up to 21 days. In the meantime they will send you a temporary card which you can print off or display on your smart phone.
