Casting for Recovery, the outdoor therapy programme for ladies with breast cancer, has opened its Hampshire retreat to applications. Casting for Recovery takes ladies profoundly affected by breast cancer and takes them on an all-expenses-paid residential retreat where counselling and medical advice complement fly fishing instruction to support ladies and help them move forward. The programme has been running for ten years now, and every year holds a weekend retreat at the beautiful Kimbridge on the Test in Hampshire, the home of fly fishing.
In 2017 the programme will be at Kimbridge from the afternoon of Friday 21 July until the afternoon of Sunday 23 July. All meals, accommodation, counselling, medical advice and fly fishing instruction are provided, and ladies are kitted out for the duration in fishing kit generously provided by Orvis UK. The Sunday will see a full morning’s guided fly fishing where each lady participant is paired with a local fishing expert to help her try to land her first trout. The programme is joyful, fun, supportive and instructive and many ladies have gone on to continue fishing, having never considered it before. Applications can be made below and please note that ladies must be at least three months clear of surgery to attend. Places are allocated by ballot and are subject to medical clearance. For more information contact [email protected]. A passionate and generous team is looking forward to introducing ladies to a wonderful experience!
NB Up to 12 ladies can be accepted on retreat. Ladies will be required to share a room.
