Yesterday saw some brave riders tackle the Prudential Ride London 100-mile cycle challenge through London and Surrey to raise vital funds for the Countryside Alliance Foundation.
The riders had to complete the gruelling 100-mile course in under eight hours and we are delighted that all of them were successful with no reports of any major post-race ill-effects. Enormous thanks goes to Lucy Cowen, Ollie Cornock, Ed Randall, Godfrey Davies, Daloni Lucas, Will Dalton and the CA’s Polly Portwin, plus of course all of their generous sponsors. Sadly Libby Wimble was supposed to be joining the team however due to a training accident had to be on the sidelines cheering on the rest of the team.
Polly Portwin, the Head of Hunting at the Countryside Alliance said:
“The level of effort and sacrifice required in preparing for cycling 100 miles should not be underestimated and we are incredibly grateful to everyone that pedalled on behalf of the Countryside Alliance Foundation, helping to raise funds for our two wonderful charities – Casting For Recovery and Fishing For Schools.
“On a personal note, it was just a huge relief to cross the finish line knowing that it was all over and that I wouldn’t have to offer to refund all those people who kindly sponsored me!”
