Casting for Recovery UK & Ireland (CfR), the fly fishing therapy programme for ladies with breast cancer, has opened its Devon retreat to registrations and ladies are invited to apply. The programme marries counselling and medical advice with the sport of fly fishing to enable ladies to bond, learn a new skill, have fun and move forward from breast cancer. The CfR team will be delivering a retreat at the world famous Arundell Arms Hotel at Lifton in Devon from 20-22 October and will welcome 14 ladies to participate in the programme for the weekend.

All that is needed is for any lady who has (or has had) breast cancer to come along is to register here. Places on retreat are selected by ballot and are subject to medical clearance – ladies should be three months clear of surgery. All accommodation, meals, counselling, medical advice, casting tuition and fishing tackle is provided – our thanks to our fishing partner Orvis.

On retreat our experienced team will run a fun schedule where fly casting and a morning’s guided fly fishing sets it apart from other charitable offerings.

The programme has been running for 10 years and is administered by The Countryside Alliance Foundation. For more information please contact [email protected]

NB Our retreat at Forbes of Kingennie near Dundee, to be held from 22-24 September, is also still open to registrations.
