Boxing Day and animal rights trial |

 Countryside Alliance Chief Executive Simon Hart reports on a good Boxing Day whilst the animal rights lobby is in turmoil: Boxing Day saw another great gathering of support for hunting and repeal of the Hunting Act, as many thousands gathered at meets across the country on a beautiful winter's day. They sent a message which the country could not ignore. Four years on from the Hunting Act the talk is not of the end of hunting, but of the end of the Act. Repeal was the word on every lip and in every story from BBC and Sky News to the Times, Telegraph, Guardian and every other national newspaper. |

 Countryside Alliance Chief Executive Simon Hart writes: Sometimes as I sit down to write a weekly grass e-route newsletter (sign up here) reporting the latest developments in the campaign for repeal of the Hunting Act it occurs to me that there are probably as many readers and Alliance members involved in other rural activities as there are in hunting. So it may be worth reminding ourselves why this campaign is so important to all of us. The animal rights movement did not see the Hunting Act as the end of a campaign, they saw it as a beginning.
