Fishing for Schools

What is Fishing for Schools?

Fishing for Schools started in 2008 and offers young people the opportunity to discover the joy of fishing, whilst learning new skills in a fun and proactive way.

It is delivered by the Countryside Alliance Foundation and world famous angler Charles Jardine, and to date over 2,000 students have benefited from Fishing 4 Schools.

The charity helps pupils re-engage with education, building their confidence and self-esteem, while at the same time assisting with new qualifications and skills.

We offer four sessions free of charge for up to 10 young people, dependent on individual needs and abilities of the group.  Sessions are classroom/outdoor based and are tailored to your pupils needs in conjunction with your dedicated coach.

Who can get involved with Fishing for Schools?

The charity offers a short-course for children age 10-16 years old, often with special educational needs.

Fishing for Schools runs courses for pupils who often find academic work particularly difficult but respond well to alternative learning.

What qualifications does the course contribute to?

Where possible we work with courses run by accredited ASDAN, COPE, BTEC and NOCN schemes giving real qualifications and social value.

The ASDAN Award Scheme operates in several thousand schools and other educational centres. It is listed as one of the few major routes for developing and accrediting wider key skills. The course contributes to the Certificate of Personal Effectiveness, which is a GCSE alternative for many children.

How can I get involved?

In October 2018 schools can apply for the Fishing for Schools provision in 2019. Applications are welcome from new schools and those schools who have previously participated in Fishing for Schools.  For more information please click here.
