How to let social media work for you during the coronavirus pandemic

We are aware that a number of our supporters, along with friends and family, may be finding themselves with more time on their hands than usual during the current crisis. If you aren't already a regular user of the various social media platforms that are available, we recommend that now may be a good time for you to explore the many options available to you.

For those who already have a social media presence, please keep an eye on the Countryside Alliance's official pages on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Aside from the Alliance's posts, there are numerous other pages and groups dedicated to hunting, shooting, fishing and other countryside activities available to follow and/or join, which remind us all exactly why we have a passion for the countryside and rural pursuits.

A large number of hunts have their own pages with some packs offering daily hunting or countryside-related quizzes and brain teasers, which are perfect for your mid-morning coffee break or to while away some time during self-isolation.

Sporting associations and groups, as well as individuals are likely to be affected financially by the coronavirus crisis which will have an impact across the country. There are currently some fantastic fundraising ideas circulating around the countryside networks which are designed to unite those with similar interests while raising funds through non-expensive initiatives such as Easter cake decorating competitions and virtual hound-racing.

If you aren't already on social media and would like to engage with it but don't know where to start or how to find specific groups or pages, then please get in touch and we will endeavour to assist you.

A note of caution - with so many people working from home and spending more time on social media, there are opportunities for people to try and infiltrate your secure networks, so please be wary when accepting new "friends".
