Hello to all the wonderful people at Fishing for Schools. I hope you are all keeping well and, of course, catching plenty of fish!
For this month's newsletter, I have chosen to talk about something that fishing teaches us all: the gift of patience.
Patience is a life skill that will carry you a long way, not only in fishing but throughout life. In a world where we are often used to getting things instantly, fishing reminds us that some of the best rewards come to those who are willing to wait, learn, and persevere.
I was reflecting on this during a recent fishing trip. Like many anglers, I've had days where the fish seem impossible to find and other days where everything falls into place. The truth is that fishing teaches us to stay positive, keep trying, and trust that our efforts will eventually pay off. Those lessons are just as valuable away from the water as they are beside it.
I've been fortunate enough to catch plenty of fish recently, mainly carp, and I've thoroughly enjoyed every moment. However, as we approach the glorious 16th of June, I'm getting excited about a different challenge. I really fancy spending some time targeting barbel on the rivers. There's always something special about a new season and the opportunities it brings.
I've included a few photos of some recent catches, and I hope they inspire you all to get out on the bank, enjoy the outdoors, and continue learning through fishing.
Until next month, keep practising patience, enjoy your fishing, and remember that every cast is an opportunity to learn something new.
The kindest regards,
Bigg Duffs
