The 138th Peterborough Royal Foxhound Show and the Future for Hunting Festival of Hounds, taking place on Wednesday 22 July at the East of England Showground near Peterborough, promise to be memorable for everyone with an interest in hounds, hound breeding and hunting.

This year's Festival comes at a pivotal moment for hunting. Following the record-breaking response to the government's trail hunting consultation, which generated the largest response ever received to a Defra consultation, the day provides an opportunity for supporters from across the country to come together and demonstrate their continued support for hunting, hounds and the communities that stand behind them. The extraordinary unity shown throughout the consultation campaign – during which over 90,000 hunt supporters sent a message directly to Defra to oppose the ban - proved what can be achieved when the hunting community speaks with one voice. The Future for Hunting Festival of Hounds is an opportunity to build on that momentum.

Gates will open at 9am, with judging commencing from 9.30am across the various hound rings. Throughout the day, visitors will be able to watch some of the finest foxhounds, harriers, beagles, basset hounds and Old English foxhounds in the country compete for top honours under the eyes of highly respected judges. There will also be other displays, including a judging and showing masterclass, along with opportunities to see Fell hounds and stag hounds.

One of the highlights of the day is always the Young Handlers' Class, which attracts a large and enthusiastic crowd. Taking place in Ring 1 at 2pm, it showcases the confidence, commitment and enthusiasm of the next generation and is not to be missed.

Visitors will have the opportunity to hear from Sir Ben Wallace, Chairman of the Future for Hunting campaign, who will be delivering a keynote speech at 12.45pm by the joint British Hound Sports Association and Countryside Alliance hospitality area.

One of the most powerful – and colourful - moments of the day will be the gathering of professional hunt staff in livery for a historic photograph which will take place following Sir Ben’s speech.

The Countryside Alliance and BHSA warmly invite all members and supporters to visit the joint Future for Hunting stand throughout the day. Representatives from both organisations will be on hand to discuss the campaign, answer questions and provide refreshments, while supporters can find out more about the work being undertaken to protect the future of hunting.

Whether you are supporting your local pack, catching up with friends, shopping for new kit ahead of the coming season, admiring some of the country's finest hounds or simply enjoying the unique atmosphere, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Above all, the Future for Hunting Festival of Hounds is a celebration of excellence, tradition, community and unity. We look forward to welcoming members, supporters and friends from across the country for what promises to be another fantastic day celebrating the very best of hounds and hunting.
