The Shooting Community Cares Campaign is a national winter clothing donation project created in 2025 to ensure that those who are homeless over the winter months stay warm. This initiative was instigated by Scottish Committee member and our shooting representative, Jamie Culpan. The Scottish Countryside Alliance are proud to be the supporting partner for this campaign going forward.
We launched the pilot project at the beginning of December2025 and it ran through to the beginning of February 2026. The response was nothing short of amazing - our shooting community came together and donated more than 300 unused coats and other outdoor wear across nine drop-off points in Scotland. This was a huge achievement given the short period of time this project ran for. These donations have now been collected and distributed to those in need, through a local homeless charity who work with people from Glasgow, Edinburgh, North Lanarkshire, and Perth and Kinross.
Director for the Scottish Countryside Alliance, Jake Swindells, said:
"The response to our Winter coat appeal for the homeless in Scotland has been overwhelming. Literally hundreds of jackets and items of clothing have been donated and these will be going straight to where they are needed and will quite literally save lives. Our shooting community is special and our sincere thanks goes out to everyone who donated."
Jamie Culpan writes:
“This campaign is an example of the kindness and cohesion found across Scotland’s countryside and shooting community, delivering genuine warmth where it’s needed most.”
We are now planning to roll out this initiative on a nationwide scale across Scotland and are looking for local charities that would like to be involved. If you would like further information on the initiative, or would like to help, please contact Jamie Culpan or Jill Stewart.
