With Autumn upon us maybe you are looking for new things to try with your horse to banish those end of summer blues, so why not give hunting a go? If you think it looks like fun and would like to try it then our Hunting Newcomers Week running from 18th - 25th October could be the perfect place for you to start. You do not need any special kit or clothes to take part and will be guided by an experienced hunt follower who will be on hand to answer any of your questions.

Many hunts will be running events throughout the country during this week (18th – 25th October) and we will keep the list below up to date with information so that you know what your nearest hunt is doing. Heythrop – Pre-hunting courses with MFH and 4* Event Rider Simon Lawrance. A perfect opportunity to brush up on your hunting skills before the start of the season, helping you to get back in the saddle and revise the cross country riding skills you need to be safe in the hunting field. These clinics will cater for everyone from the newcomer to the experienced subscriber who wants to get their eye in! Oakley – Newcomers ride with hounds followed by a BBQ and tour of the kennels starting at 11am on Sunday 19th October. Taunton Vale Foxhounds - Pre-hunting schooling day to be held at Pontispool Equestrian centre on Thursday 16th October. Designed for newcomers and less experienced hunters who wish to improve their knowledge and horsemanship skills on the hunting field, as well as the experienced hunters who wish to brush up on their skills in advance of the forthcoming season. The day will consist of 2 hours tailored, mounted tuition followed by a trail hunt behind the Taunton Vale Foxhounds with optional fences.
