NCA launches campaign to reduce shotgun thefts

According to the National Crime Agency, shotgun theft is on the rise. Having slumped during the first lockdown, as the shooting season got under way, the rates of shotgun theft soared. It appears that shotguns are increasingly being intentionally targeted by thieves. Compared to the same period in 2019, shotgun theft in 2020 is up by over 50%. The shooting community must do everything it can to halt this rise.

While it is a legal requirement to always store your shotgun securely, now is an excellent time to review your security arrangements at home and consider whether they can be improved. Equally, as the shooting season gets underway again in December, always ensure that you are alert and vigilant when travelling with a shotgun to shoot elsewhere.
