DAERA advice

  • Angling - following the Prime Minister's statement on the evening of the 23rd March, the message was that people should remain at home and only to go out for totally necessary journeys. These measures are to save lives and reduce the pressure of the NHS. The public are only permitted to leave their home for specified reasons and these include one form of exercise such as running, walking or cycling. Angling was not one of the specified forms of acceptable exercise. In line with this advice and guidance, the Minister for the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs has now closed all Public Angling Estate angling waters to anglers and has encouraged all anglers to stay at home and not go fishing. The Department would not encourage anglers to leave the security of their home at this critical time, especially those persons with underlying health issues.
  •  DAERA-owned country and forest parks are closed to all vehicles until further notice - people are also urged not to visit on foot and playparks, on-site toilet facilities, camping facilities, museums, mobile concessions and visitor centres are also closed
