Brief on debate on the rural economy

Written by Countryside Alliance | 24 April 2016

Enclosed is a briefing note ahead of the short debate on the state of the rural economy on Wednesday 27 April (Baroness McIntosh of Pickering, Con) (1 hour).

The Countryside Alliance believes a successful rural economy is vital for maintaining a living and working countryside. Without it there would not be the rural communities and landscapes as we know them today. It is essential that the people who live and work in the countryside are able to engage fully in the economic life of the country. We therefore welcome this debate and hope it will be an opportunity to highlight the main issues facing the rural economy. Download our brief on the speech here.
