CA statement on the ethical veganism employment tribunal in Norwich

Written by Countryside Alliance | 3 January 2020

In reference to the judgement of an employment tribunal, in the case of Mr. Jordi Casamitjana, please see the below comment from Tim Bonner.

Tim Bonner, Chief Executive of the Countryside Alliance said: " It should go without saying that no one should be discriminated against based on their preferred dietary or ethical choices. We would expect ethical carnivores to equally have their way of life protected under law from discrimination. It appears there's more than meets the eye in relation to this judgement and it may not necessarily be binding on other future employment tribunals."

Jordi Casamitjana launched legal proceedings after claiming he was sacked by the League Against Cruel Sports (LACS) when he raised concerns that its pension fund was being invested into companies involved in animal testing. LACS deny this was case and stated that he had been sacked for 'gross misconduct'.
