First step towards a national rural crime strategy

Written by Countryside Alliance | 18 May 2017

This week North Yorkshire Police, who hold the NPCC national portfolio for Wildlife Crime and Rural Affairs, held a rural stakeholder engagement event with the purpose to develop a national strategy for this important portfolio.

Organisations including ourselves, the National Gamekeepers Organisation, British Horse Society and many more spent the day identifying and discussing what is important to rural communities to help shape the national rural crime strategy. Key issues discussed on the day included communication, training and partnership working with rural stakeholders. It was a great start and should lead to a policing strategy which meets the needs of rural communities.
