Lyme App launched

Written by Countryside Alliance | 1 September 2019

If you were not aware, Lyme disease – which is also known as Lyme borreliosis – is an infection that can be spread to humans by ticks carrying the Borrelia burgdorferi bacteria. If not diagnosed and treated promptly, it can lead to a chronic, debilitating condition.

Approximately 3,000 cases of the infection are diagnosed per year in the UK and more than 65,000 each year in Europe.

Director Scotland Jamie Stewart met with representatives from International Disease Mapping App at the Highland Game Fair, Moy to hear first-hand about the launch and practical use of the app designed to track ticks and prevent Lyme disease.

The Scottish Countryside Alliance is fully supportive of 'LymeApp' –through consultation on the user-interface and will actively promote the app to our members and supporters.
