Written by Countryside Alliance | 19 August 2019

Following the news that gamekeeper, Alan Wilson, has been sentenced today (19th Aug) to 225 hours of community service and a ten-month night time curfew for a range of wildlife crime offences, the Scottish Countryside Alliance made the following statement.

Jamie Stewart Countryside Alliance Scotland director, said: " As an active and committed member of the Partnership Against Wildlife Crime Scotland (PAWS), the Scottish Countryside Alliance (SCA) stands committed against wildlife crime. Against the backdrop of the most recent Scottish Government consultation focused on the increase of both fines and custodial sentences, those who willingly commit crimes against wildlife have been issued a warning. Such criminal activity is unacceptable and plays no part in the role of those seeking to manage wildlife.

The SCA continues to support the Scottish government as it seek to continue the downward trend in crimes against wildlife.
