Duke of Roxburghe

It is with deep sadness that we report the passing of Guy Innes-Ker, the 10th Duke of Roxburghe.

The Duke was an unfaltering supporter of all things field sports, land management and conservation. A land owner with vision, he embraced new technology to aid the Scottish Government reach renewable energy and low carbon targets, fully engaged in the land reform debate and subsequent access legislation, and achieved enviable success with the conservation of Atlantic salmon, grey partridges and other ground nesting birds.

Scottish Countryside Alliance Director Jamie Stewart said: The Duke was a popular figure across the sporting sector, a passionate fisherman and conservationist. The Duke recognised his responsibility to strengthen and support local communities, and from the platform of commercial management of the Roxburghe Estate land worked to deliver lasting contributions to the communities of which he was part.

We know he will be missed by so many in different spheres but in particular by those staff and farm tenants on the Roxburghe Estates.

Our thoughts are with the family at this time.
