Campaign for Shooting 2021 - 2022: a year in retrospect, and the year ahead

The Campaign for Shooting is at the forefront of promoting and protecting shooting in Westminster, across the devolved administrations, in the media and on the ground. We challenge misinformation and bias; promote the considerable environmental, economic and social benefits of shooting; and positively influence policy. Our objectives are clear: to secure and enhance the long-term sustainability of shooting and its associated land management practices, and to manage and reduce political risk at the local, national, and devolved levels.

For politicians and the media, we are frequently the first to be contacted when input on shooting issues is required. We robustly challenge misinformation and unsubstantiated accusations, and are constantly looking to hone arguments, develop research, and when necessary, lead radical reform. Despite the disruption of a global pandemic, the Campaign for Shooting has never been busier, and Campaign for Shooting 2021 – 2022: a year in retrospect and the year ahead provides an overview of the main issues with which we have been dealing over the last 12 months, and looks at those with which we know we will be dealing during the year ahead.

One of these will be the further development of Aim to Sustain, a new formal public facing partnership which was launched at this year's Game Fair. This excting new initaitive will combine the expertise of the leading UK rural organisations, deliver the highest standards, and best promote the crucial role that sustainable game shooting plays in delivering biodiversity gain, protecting the countryside, and sustaining rural communities. Crucially, it will do that through standing together to deliver the strongest possible message to politicians and the public. The Countryside Alliance has been central to the formation of this new partneship, and we will remain pivotal in moving forward what is a critical step for game shooting.

A considerable amount has been achieved during the last 12 months, but our opponents are well funded, and we must have the necessary resources if we are to effectively challenge the many threats that continue to face us. I am therefore extremely grateful to all those that support our work, as without that additional funding we could not be as successful as we are. For those that have yet to do so, there are a number of ways in which you can give us your support, the details of which are in Campaign for Shooting 2021 - 2022: a year in retrospect, and the year ahead, which can be read here.
