The aim of this inaugural session was to offer advice to hunt representatives on how best to engage with the media channels that are currently available and to give hunt officials confidence in their usage. Some packs use social media to engage with their members and to advertise social events, whilst others purely use their meet card and their website or email networks for communication.
The day featured a number of different presentations on topics such as: "the challenges of social media usage from a hunting perspective," and "promoting legal hunting in the local press and beyond".
Polly Portwin, Head of Hunting at the Countryside Alliance commented: "The hunting community is comprised of a large cross-section of people so it is encouraging to see hunts embracing all methods of communication available to them in order to keep their members and subscribers up to date, as well as educating the public about hunting within the law.
"The feedback from the event has been incredibly positive with more hunts now eager to engage with the local press and able to use social media with confidence. We look forward to welcoming representatives from even more different packs at the other regional seminars we have planned throughout the coming months."
