VWH Hunt Stud Grooms 'Walk the Walk' for Moonwalk London for charity

The Stud Groom and team in charge of the hunt horses at the Vale of the White Horse (VWH) Hunt will be taking on The Moonwalk London 2023, on Saturday 20th May, in aid of Walk the Walk, a grant making breast cancer research charity.

Chantelle Avery, Sian Davis and Sophie Galloway have seriously increased their training in the past two months – beyond the already high step-count of any hunt groom during the season – by training almost every day. The trio is used to clocking up the miles whilst caring for their equine athletes and are currently hitting around 45 miles per week in preparation for the marathon distance.

Walking 26.2 miles around London through the night, starting at 11pm, is anticipated to take the three dedicated members of hunt staff seven hours to complete. The team is in high spirits and looking forward to the event, with Chantelle explaining why the charity is important to them: “Breast cancer is so indiscriminate, irrespective of age or lifestyle. We wanted to increase our fitness throughout the summer and raise funds to help fight this cancer – we all seem to know someone who has or who has had breast cancer.”

“The fundraising grooms are hoping for good weather and they have the big tunes plugged into their playlist to party-walk the night away,” said Eleasha Sallis, campaigns assistant at the Countryside Alliance when wishing them well ahead of the big day. “Finding time to increase your fitness levels to prepare for an event like this takes real dedication, particularly whilst working and focussing on fundraising as well.

“Sian, Sophie and Chantelle are incredibly grateful for all the support and donations they have received, thanking the VWH community for getting behind their promotional pages and showing such generosity. Between them, the girls have raised over £1,300 so far and we look forward to sharing details of their final total once they have completed the event.”
