The Countryside Alliance was pleased to host a Rural Reception in the Churchill Room of the House of Commons last night (23 April). MPs and peers from across the political spectrum joined Alliance staff to discuss issues of importance to rural communities, strengthen relationships with us and support our mission as the voice of the countryside.
Hosted by Countryside Alliance member Greg Smith MP (Mid Buckinghamshire, Con), guests were also addressed by our President, Baroness Mallalieu (Lab) and Chairman, Lord Herbert of South Downs (Con). All three speakers addressed the challenges facing the countryside and the urgency of ensuring rural needs are properly served, but the overwhelming message was one of hope, with the Countryside Alliance there to inform policy debates on an expansive range of issues and ensure that the voice of the countryside continues to be heard across Parliament.
Our extensive engagement with politicians of all parties across the country on the issues that matter to the countryside is only possible thanks to the generous help of our members and supporters. To help us amplify the voice of the countryside still further, please consider joining or donating to the Countryside Alliance today.
