about this blogRead moreEnter our exclusive new draw today for your chance to win a superb day’s shooting for nine guns on this exceptional and historic Northumberland estate.
Alnwick Castle is the second largest inhabited castle in the country and has been owned by the Lords, Earls and Dukes of Northumberland for over 700 years. This magnificent fortress is surrounded by a glorious Capability Brown landscape which includes Hulne Park, a 3,600 acre walled deer park dating back to medieval times. This stunning, private park includes heather moorland and steep sided valleys with the river Aln winding its way through the centre of this beautiful, ancient, wooded countryside. The shoot, which is mainly withing Hulne Park, is high class and world renowned within the shooting world. With ideal topography, every drive provides challenging birds.
We are extremely grateful to the Duke of Northumberland for so generously donating this rarely available 250-bird pheasant day for a maximum of nine guns, worth over £20,000, to the Countryside Alliance. It will take place in December 2025 on a date to be arranged by mutual agreement, and the fortunate winner will experience exceptional sport in a beautiful and historic landscape with lunch provided in the Medieval Hulne Priory in the centre of the Park.
The tipping of loaders and the Head Keeper will be the responsibility of individual guns. Accommodation in the Estate’s new luxurious ‘Bailiffgate Hotel’, next to Alnwick Castle, or in other local establishments, can be booked by separate arrangement.
Buy a ticket today for a chance to win this rare and exceptional prize.
Tickets for this very special day’s shooting cost £100 each. The draw will close at midnight on Monday 16 December 2024 and the winning ticket will be drawn on Wednesday 18 December 2024. All proceeds from the sale of tickets will go towards the work of the Campaign for Shooting.
A maximum of 30 tickets can be purchased at any one time. The Draw is open to residents of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland over the age of 18 (this excludes Isle of Man, Channel Islands and BFPO addresses according to Gambling Act 2005 regulations). You can no longer purchase a ticket using a credit card, but debit cards are accepted. For full terms and conditions, click here.
The winner of the draw must ensure that all guns hold a current insurance policy providing cover for not less than £10,000,000 in respect of accident, death, injury or damage to any third party, and public liability. All guns must also hold a current shotgun certificate/overseas visitors shotgun permit, with the names of any inexperienced guns notified in advance.
