Take a moment to write to your MP to help protect packs of hounds
The Hunting Act came into force in England and Wales 20 years ago on 18 February 2005. The legislation was not welcomed by the hunting community, nor was it justified on the basis of principle or evidence, but hunts have adapted their hunting activities to comply with the Act. Despite hunts operating within the law, hunting is back on the political agenda again with a government manifesto commitment to ban trail hunting.
Your current MP may not be aware of the long, intense journey that led to the passing of the Hunting Act. It was not only the subject of numerous private members' bills, but also the focus of an independent inquiry commissioned by the then Labour government and subject to over 700 hours of parliamentary debate.
We're asking you to ensure that your MP understands the many benefits that trail hunting brings to participants and communities. It is important they realise that raising this issue again is not a priority for voters.
Please sign our e-lobby today and send a direct message to your MP so your elected representative is aware of the support for trail hunting and lawful hunting activities from those living within their constituency. Start by simply filling in your postcode below.
