The 2026 Game Shooting Census and Shoot Owner Census, carried out by GunsOnPegs and Lycetts with the support of Countryside Alliance, GWCT and BASC, are now live. The censuses provide the organisations with key insights that help us to campaign effectively for the future of shooting. All those who participate will be entered into a draw to win two pegs on a 150-bird at Cambrian Birds this season.
When you take part, you're directly influencing the decisions that protect and promote game shooting . Your strictly confidential responses provide the most current, accurate picture of the shooting community and the key issues impacting shooting – giving us the evidence we need to act on your behalf with policymakers.
The Shoot Owner Census aims to understand how shoots are managed, gathering information on shoots of all shapes and sizes: big and small, commercial, syndicate, private. It also seeks to understand how shoot owners, managers and operators think and feel about key issues impacting shooting.
The Game Shooting Census and Shoot Owner Census have been running since 2013, building an unrivalled picture of the shooting world. They have driven debate, fuelled industry articles, helped shoots understand what their guns really want, and given our organisations hard evidence to champion shooting at the highest levels.
As the longest-running and most comprehensive survey of its kind, the census doesn't just capture a snapshot of today – it maps the long-term trends that will define the sport for generations to come.
The census closes on 25 June, so don’t delay: complete the census now and be in with a chance of winning a shoot day at Cambrian Birds.
