BHSA to host National Trail Hunting Day with focus on transparency and engagement

01 October, 2025

The British Hound Sports Association’s (BHSA’s) second National Trail Hunting Day takes place next Friday, 10 October 2025. This follows on from the inaugural event in September 2024 which saw hunt supporters across the country attend around 30 venues across England and Wales.

Oliver Hughes, managing director of the BHSA explains the purpose of this national event:

“This day is our opportunity to celebrate and showcase the reality of trail hunting - lawful, carefully regulated and deeply rooted in the countryside. It is a chance for decision-makers and the media to see for themselves the care, discipline, and community that underpin the sport.”

This year, the event is taking place on a Friday to give MPs and other stakeholders that have been invited such as Police and Crime Commissioners, Rural Crime Officers and the local and national press, more of an opportunity to attend. The meets will take place at 11am.

Polly Portwin, Director of the Campaign for Hunting at the Countryside Alliance commented:

“The Labour government has a manifesto commitment to ‘ban trail hunting’ so the BHSA, hunting’s governing body, is encouraging MPs and other stakeholders to learn more about this lawful activity, while sending a strong message that the existing legislation is workable and enforceable, and that further legislative measures are unnecessary and unjustified."
