Dyfed Powys Police have introduced a new community messaging system, ‘Dyfed Powys Connects’ that enables a two-way conversation between local Neighbourhood Policing Prevention Teams and their communities.
Inspector Matthew Howells, the force Rural Crime Team lead, is urging everyone living in the Dyfed and Powys area to sign up to the system.
“Engaging with our communities is vital in establishing local policing priorities, be that road safety, anti-social behaviour or rural crime as a few examples, the list is endless. However, in order to do that we need people to sign up to the messaging system. You will be asked to complete a very short survey that takes less than two minutes to complete. This survey will tell us what you want us to look at as a local priority. There will also be a short rural crime survey to follow, specifically looking at rural and wildlife crime. The results from the rural survey will help me in writing the Rural and Wildlife Crime Strategy for Dyfed Powys in the next few months.”
“This new system is far superior to other systems we have used over the years and is one that is used by the majority of police forces in England and Wales. We will be using this system to share crime prevention advice, make crime information appeals and let you know where we will be for face-to-face engagement and events. It is also linked to Neighbourhood Watch, Action Fraud and other national organisations. You will be able to select to receive information from these also.”
Rachel Evans, Director for Wales said:
“We welcome this initiative by Dyfed Powys Police and encourage our members and supporters to sign up to the messaging system. Living rurally can make you feel quite isolated and alone when it comes to the sharing of vital information on crime and this system will benefit those living in both a rural and urban setting, whilst enabling Dyfed Powys police to prioritise their work”.
You can sign up for the messaging system here.
