The Countryside Alliance is urging members and supporters from the hunting and wider equestrian community to play their part in making Britain's roads safer.

Every day, riders across the country are put at unnecessary risk. With excessive speed and inconsiderate driving of considerable concern – whether on or off-road - other incidents such as low flying aircraft, drones or fireworks can also be hazardous for horse riders.

By downloading the British Horse Society's free “Horse i ” app, riders can report any road safety incident they experience as soon as it is safe to do so.

Whether you ride out with hounds, hack locally, compete or simply enjoy exploring the countryside on horseback, every report submitted helps build the evidence needed to support the British Horse Society's Dead Slow campaign, which is lobbying government, police forces and driving organisations for better protection for horses and riders.

The Horse i app makes reporting incidents straightforward and allows riders to submit details quickly, helping the British Horse Society build a comprehensive national picture of road safety issues. Every report matters, whether it relates to a near miss, a dangerous overtake or a more serious collision.

"Safe access to the countryside depends on being able to travel our roads without fear. Riders should never have to accept dangerous driving as simply part of getting out on horseback. The British Horse Society's Dead Slow campaign is doing vital work to influence government and driving organisations, but it can only succeed if riders continue to report incidents. We would encourage those who ride - whether following hounds, pleasure riding or competing - to download the Horse i app and report every incident they experience. Every single report strengthens the evidence and helps make the case for safer roads for horses, riders and all road users."
