The Countryside Alliance's annual Countryside Clean-up is back!

The Countryside Alliance's annual Countryside Clean-up soon returns with those who care about our beautiful countryside encouraged to take part in this litter-picking initiative taking place between Saturday 25th March and Sunday 2nd April.

Hunts and other rural groups of people have been engaging with the litter pick for a number of years, amounting in widespread news coverage as a result of tackling this blight on our countryside. Hunt supporters and the piles of rubbish they have collected have regularly featured in The Daily Mail and other national and local press, with one hunt even making an appearance on Blue Peter as part of their local clean-up.

The Alliance is encouraging hunts, shoots and other groups of friends or organisations to dedicate a few hours to help tidy up a rural area that is being spoilt by discarded rubbish. Whether it is fast food wrappers on our verges or discarded bottles lying beneath hedgerows, there is always plenty to be collected, strewn without thought by those who do not respect our countryside or the people or animals who live there.

"We encourage everyone who can to devote a couple of hours to making a difference in their local area by organising or joining a local clean-up operation," said Polly Portwin, Director of the Countryside Alliance's Campaign for Hunting. "It's worth engaging with the relevant parish council, putting up notices or advertising an event on the local Facebook page to encourage more people to join you and to really make an impact where litter is at its worst."

Our registration form for the Countryside Clean-up can be found here.

If you have registered a litter pick, keep an eye out for your Organisers' Brief which we will be sending out shortly. If you haven't signed up for our Countryside Clean-up but still want to take part in your own litter pick, please don't forget to send your pictures and videos into us through Facebook or Instagram.
