Minister for Climate Change responds to Countryside Alliance Wales' e-lobby

Thank you to all those who signed our e-lobby regarding the proposal to install pylons from the Radnor Forest to Carmarthenshire by Green Gen Cymru / Bute Energy.

We have submitted a very brief response giving feedback on what we see as a less-than-adequate consultation process and highlighted the flaws in how this has been approached.

The Minister for Climate Change, Julie James MS has responded and as expected, states that she can’t comment on the proposal as the overall decision will be made by another Minister.

You can read the Minister's response in English here, or in Welsh here.

We continue to raise the profile of this campaign politically and have had representation at Labour, Plaid Cymru and the Conservative Party conferences with the campaign getting aired on the main stage at the Conservative Party conference. We also had the opportunity to engage with Bute Energy representatives and we continue to air our concerns and commit to working positively with them to maintain discussion opportunities.

We continue to work with Members of the Senedd individually on this issue and we urge you to engage with your Senedd Members at every opportunity.

Meanwhile, we await the decision to be made by Ofgem as to whether or not Bute Energy is granted its licence and have copied our submission to Ofgem. The Ofgem decision is expected by the summer but we do not as yet have a definitive date.
