Exciting times ahead for the Angling and the Countryside qualification

Since we announced the Angling and the Countryside qualification last October, the response has been fantastic. Schools and educational settings have been getting in touch, eager to discover more about a programme that blends practical angling with conservation, personal development and employability skills.

February saw some big first steps: our online discovery session gave everyone a chance to ask questions and hear about the qualification first-hand. Later that month, our coaching team gathered at Sportfish in Theale to dive deeper into the syllabus, share expertise and get fully on board. Huge thanks to Sportfish Game Fishing Centre for hosting us – it was a brilliant day!

Between filming and discussion sessions, the day was all about sharing ideas and building anticipation. We can’t wait to see this enthusiasm translated into high-quality engagement for young people on the bank.

Looking ahead:

    • Pilot schools confirmed – first schools are on board as we move into the pilot phase.
    • Tutor handbook in progress – a practical, easy-to-use guide to support school delivery.
    • CPD programme launching – supporting our team of coaches as they pivot to a new format and learning outcomes.
    • Expert support on board – from coaching professionals to educational specialists, our team will ensure the programme delivers real impact.

It’s just the start of an exciting journey. Watch this space as we bring the Angling and the Countryside qualification to life!
