Shooting community cares - winter coat appeal gaining momentum

23 December, 2025

Shooting Community Cares is a national winter clothing donation campaign created to ensure that those who are homeless this winter stay warm. Our shooting community spirit is at the heart of Scotland, which has already been shown by the amount of donations so far. The Scottish Countryside Alliance is proud to be the supporting partner for this campaign.

This initiative was instigated by Scottish Committee member and our shooting representative, Jamie Culpan, and we are urging our shooting community to come together and donate any unused coats and other outdoor wear to local drop-off points around the country. These donations will be collected and distributed to those in need through the Simon Community Scotland charity, who work with the homeless in Glasgow, Edinburgh, North Lanarkshire, and Perth and Kinross.

Director for the Scottish Countryside Alliance, Jake Swindells, said:

“The Scottish Countryside Alliance is exceptionally proud to support one of our committee members, Jamie, on his Shooting Community Cares campaign. This campaign has been set up to make sure that those experiencing homelessness are warm this Christmas.”

Jamie Culpan writes:

“This campaign is an example of the kindness and cohesion found across Scotland’s countryside and shooting community, delivering genuine warmth where it’s needed most this winter.”

The following drop-off points are accepting donations now:

The Shooting Community Cares campaign launched in December 2025 and will continue collecting and distributing winter coat donations through February 2026.

If you would like to become a drop-off point for donations, or would like further information on this initiative, please contact Jamie Culpan or Jill Stewart.
