about this blogRead moreStudents from the Malling School in Kent received their Level One Cast Awards on Friday 11 November, after coaching from our Fishing 4 Schools project.
The Fishing 4 Schools team went into the school in East Malling for the student's final session of this course, to teach them knots, rugs and fly tying, as well as handing out the all important certificates.
The Cast Awards are the Angling Trust's skill awards, and the Malling pupils will now move on to the second level.
The youngsters were all new to fishing this year and attended the practical course at Hadlow College's Grove Farm Fishery and Monk Lakes. They were also the winners of the Fishing 4 Schools shield at the inter-schools fishing competition in September, that featured in the Daily Telegraph earlier this month.
Fishing 4 Schools Kent coach Warren White said: "The Malling School pupils may be novice anglers compared to some of our other schools, but their success proves what can be achieved with the will and a little guidance."
