Dorset sporting highlight, the Howden Countryside Alliance Point-to-Point at Badbury Rings near Wimborne, takes place on Sunday 24 February and promises to be a great day out for all the family.
Entertainment comprises six point-to-point races – including the Wessex National – plus terrier racing and retail therapy in the shopping village, as well as a licensed bar and bookmakers.
The event is raising money for three causes – the Weldmar Hospicecare Trust, which offers specialist care for patients with progressive conditions across north, south and west Dorset, the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance and the Countryside Alliance.
Wildlife and countryside photographers have donated exclusive, signed prints to the event, which will be available for sale on the day, with money raised going to the three causes.
The artists are: Al Margadale, Emma Wade (junior), Piers Belmont, Sophey Lyndsay, Emma Harris, Bella West, Anya Campbell, Hugo Horsfield, Sarah Farnsworth, Ollie Green, Sam Pelly, Nina Edminson, Charles Sainsbury-Plaice and Philip Volkers.
The Howden Countryside Alliance Point-to-Point is a staple of the Dorset sporting calendar, attracting around 3,000 punters to the three-mile course.
Around 100 runners will take part in races over the day, including men's and ladies' opens and a CA Club race for novice riders.
Countryside Alliance chief executive Tim Bonner said: "The countryside Alliance is working hard to support the interests of rural communities – whether that be standing up for their bus service, improving broadband and phone reception or championing their way of life and country activities. We are very grateful to all the photographers who have donated their work to our fundraising efforts."
Entry to the event is £30 per car or £15 for single occupancy and pedestrians. Patrons' tickets – providing premier parking and day-long hospitality in an exclusive marquee (sponsored by Strutt and Parker) with access to a viewing platform - are also available at £40 per head or £70 for a couple.
For tickets and all point-to-point enquiries, contact [email protected] or 01380 831068 and 07974 141933.
