Thank you for standing up for grouse moor management

The Countryside Alliance would like to thank everyone who stood up for grouse moor management over the past few months.

The Westminster Hall debate on the future of grouse shooting took place this week (31 st October) and was a triumph of evidence and reason over inflammatory rhetoric and divisiveness. This debate was the result of almost a year of anti-grouse-shooting campaigning from animal rights groups, TV presenters and rock stars, yet it ended up being overwhelmingly positive about the economic, ecological and social benefits of good moorland management.

This fantastic result is due in part to the fact that the evidence in favour of grouse shooting is so much stronger than the evidence against it. But sometimes the evidence doesn't get a fair hearing, and a distorted view of the countryside is allowed to take root. The reason the evidence won the day on Monday is because the shooting community, you, came together and told your stories.

People who shoot, go beating, work their dogs, sell game, eat game and run businesses that rely on shooting - all put pen to paper to tell the Government and their MPs why grouse shooting matters to them. Your support is what allowed us to tell MPs that their constituents needed them to back the people and the wildlife who rely on grouse moor management.
A huge thank you to everyone, our members and to those of you who may not be members but have supported our efforts to get the real case for grouse shooting out to MP's. If you are not a member of the Countryside Alliance we hope you will join us.

If for any reason you cannot join us, you can still show your support for our ongoing shooting campaign by wearing our shooting badge with pride, knowing you are playing a vital part in the fight for shooting at Westminster. Order your badge online.

You may also want to sign up for our news updates so you can follow the debate and stay involved. There is plenty more work to do for the Countryside Alliance campaign for shooting and we can only succeed with your ongoing support.

Thank you from all of us at the Countryside Alliance
