The Warter Priory Charity Clay Shoot 2025 in support of the Countryside Alliance

Warter Priory, the world-class shooting estate set in the heart of East Yorkshire, is hosting a two-day charity clay shoot on Thursday 15 and Friday 16 May 2025, followed on Saturday 17 May by the ‘High Tower Challenge’ and fundraising ball. Over the last 10 years, this renowned annual event has raised over £1 million for a number of organisations, including the British Heart Foundation, RNLI, Army Benevolent Fund, Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Parkinson’s UK, with over £205,000 raised for the Countryside Alliance in 2024.

Warter Priory is primarily a shooting estate, and they have decided that to safeguard our field sports, especially in the present political climate, half of all proceeds from this year’s Charity Clay Shoot and Fundraising Ball are to go to the Countryside Alliance, the leading campaigning organisation dedicated to ensuring a future for field sports. The other half of the proceeds will go to the Clocktower Foundation, a bespoke military charity that supports those wounded on operations, assists with their recovery, and improves the prospects of all members of the regimental family who are in need.

There will be up to 60 teams of eight (four guns and four loaders) shooting a total of six stands, one of which will be a pool shoot, each day. The price per team is £1,500, and this includes hospitality and refreshments throughout the day, and a champagne drinks reception following which there will be lunch with an auction of some unique lots, many of which would not be available on the open market. All 12 and 20 bore shotgun cartridges are included. Additional non-shooting friends and guests are very welcome to join at a charge of £100 per person.

The High Tower Challenge will take place between 9:30 am and 3:00 pm on Saturday 17 May. The competition consists of 30 demanding clays and entry is £50, with no limit to the number of times one can enter. The prize for the highest score is a day’s shooting for one gun at Warter Priory on a date to be arranged by mutual agreement during the 2025/26 season, worth over £3,000. For those wishing to take part, there is no need to book in advance. Boxes of 12 and 20 bore cartridges can be purchased on the day by those who have not brought their own, and there will be a BBQ and cash bar. This is a marvellous way to spend the Saturday amongst friends, ahead of the Bushbeaters’ Ball that evening.

This is the main fundraising event for the Countryside Alliance in 2025, and we are incredibly grateful to the Warter Priory Estate for choosing the Countryside Alliance as one of this year’s joint beneficiaries. It is therefore very much hoped that you will bring, or be part of, a team on the 15 and / or 16 May, for what promises, once again, to be a thoroughly memorable and enjoyable event. To enter a team, please complete this form, which you can also download below. It is also hoped that you will come and try your luck at the High Tower Challenge, directions for which will be signposted from the main entrance for those that have been unable to attend on the Thursday and Friday. Tickets for the Bushbeaters’ Ball, with disco and dancing to The Ordinary Men, are £85 per person and these can be obtained from Dorothy Brighton by emailing dottiebrighton@yahoo.com or calling 07929 937906.
