The Welsh Assembly feast on superb Game to Eat

The Welsh Assembly has been treated to a wild game evening to celebrate all that is in season throughout November, in association with the Countryside Alliance's Game to Eat campaign, the Rhug Estate and the National Gamekeepers Organisation.

The evening was hosted by the popular and talented TV chef Dudley Newbury who demonstrated some quick and simple methods of cooking game to Assembly Members and top chefs from across Wales. Whilst Dudley was getting the best out of game on the hob, attendees were treated to a feast fit for a king by the catering team of the resident Charlton House caterers, with canapés of Beetroot risotto and partridge, rabbit, venison and pheasant in Tomos Watkin Ale, which proved to be exceptionally popular.

Sponsorship for the event was of cross party support with Joyce Watson AM, William Powell AM, the Deputy Presiding Officer David Melding AM and Llyr Gruffydd AM who were pleased to promote Welsh game as a fantastic "super-food" showing off its versatility and brilliance as a local and healthy product.

The night was a roaring success with a third of AMs present all with a firm belief that this fantastic Welsh product is of a quality that is worthy of world class recognition. Rachel Evans, Director for Wales will be meeting with Assembly Members and stakeholders in the New Year to discuss ways of increasing the promotion of Welsh game beyond the borders.
